I’ve been around real estate my whole life. Now with me being only 23, you may wonder how that’s even possible. Well, My mom (who also happens to be my broker) has been in Real Estate for over 20 years. That means that since I was born, I’ve been around real estate. I’ve heard stories and been around phone calls and meetings and pretty much anything else you can think of. I would always go into work with her and ride around to showings and listings meeting people and hearing stories about why people were moving and what they were looking for. Even as a little kid, something just sparked when I was able to hear those stories. It wasn’t until 2020 that I really understood why that spark was there.

The Spark that Ignited My Journey To Real Estate

Being around real estate your whole life, you see the good times and of course, the bad ones. But something that always stuck with me was seeing the smile on someone’s face when they got handed the keys to the house they just bought.

2020 rolled around and I really started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. I remembered all the times I saw those people taking pictures of holding the keys and laughing and even sometimes on the verge of tears because they were so happy, that’s when I decided I wanted to get my license. Being able to help people realize their dreams and get into the house they’ve always wanted is a feeling you almost can’t describe. As a young kid, over the years of seeing transactions take place, that was what always stuck out to me.

Seeing my mom hand them the keys and giving hugs and the client getting so excited, that’s what makes the whole profession. Sure seeing houses and land is nice, but it’s the connection you make with people that really makes it the best career in the world. There’s nothing I’d rather do more than to help someone get that house, or buy that piece of land they want to build on, because at the end of the day, that smile and their happiness is what I strive to give them.

My Best Bud Cooper

Ever since I was a little kid I wanted a golden retriever. I’d always see other people with them and wished I could get one to have for myself.

Well, the time finally came when I was able to. March of 2020 came around and I started looking around for golden retriever puppies. Everywhere local was already out and didn’t have any more coming for quite some time. Finally I was able to find one all the way in Ohio that just was born. He’d be ready to come home in May. That was the longest 2 months of my life.

May finally rolled around and I was never more excited for anything in my life. We drove 6 hours all the way to a small farm in Ohio where the breeder was. As we pulled up they walked out the onto the front porch with Cooper, my golden retriever puppy and it was at that moment that I knew I’d found my best friend. We got the instructions and everything and wrapped him in a blanket and started the drive back to VA. It was almost surreal. I couldn’t believe I was holding my very own golden. Watching him grow through his first year was amazing. I’d never had my own puppy to take care of before so It was a learning process. Looking back on it though I wouldn’t have picked any other pup. Having a golden retriever was everything I hoped for and more.

Cooper is the smartest dog I’ve ever met and he’s also the most spoiled dog I think we’ve ever had but I wouldn’t change anything about him. I love him like he is. If you ever wanted a golden retriever or any puppy for that matter, just do it. It’s a lot of work but when they look at you like you’re the best thing in the world, it makes it all worth it.
